Yachting
We at the Northampton and district Model boat club sail various types of yacht from the “footie” to The “Marblehead”.
The Footie
This is probably the smallest yacht that is radio controlled. The class is closely controlled and rigging is easy as the complete model including the sails can be transported in the boot of a car.

The Soling 1m
Our club now has four built solings and with four more on order we will be in a strong position, to have a club racing series in 2008.
The soling is built to the American rules with an all up weight of 10lb, an overall length of 1 metre (39") and basic two channel radio control. The yacht is dismantled quickly with removable keel and rig. They can be transported rigged as well. |

The Marblehead
This is the formula one of model yachting, basically anything goes. Hull length and sail area is governed, but every thing else is open to change.
The modern Marblehead can cost thousands of pounds and to remain competitive you must always stay up to date with the latest technology used.
