Chairman’s Jottings:
Chairman’s Report for 2011
It has been pleasing to welcome new members over the past year and the website has played a great part in raising the club’s profile. The website has grown to include pictures of members’ models on the water.
Another good year in terms of the shows we have attended. There were new events at Northampton Boat Club, the Earls Barton Garden Show and Stoke Bruerne. It is a pity to have lost the Northampton Country Fair and the Model-Ex event although the latter will be reinstated in 2013.
One of my highlights was the Royal wedding getaway which attracted an excellent turnout of members and a great day in both socialising and sailing. We need to decide on shows for 2012 in order that these can be displayed on both the website and promotional materials.
Other events have been varied with visits from Dave Abbott, Jag from Palaform Models, bring and buy sales and the annual club dinner at Yardley Hastings. Dave Abbott and Ron Dean have agreed to visit the club during the early part of 2012.
Our members continue to be generous in supporting raffles and various sales which together with the tea money helps keep the club afloat and keep the membership fees to the absolute minimum.
Once again I would like to thank all those members who have played their part in organising and attending events as well as maintenance work on the Earls Barton pond. Thanks are also due to Val and Ann for their continued efforts on Tuesday evenings.
