Despite losing a couple of shows in 2008, I believe that we have had another good year and I am still proud to be chairman of Northampton and District Model Boat Club. We did pick up a new event – the Town Show which, despite the weather, was very successful in terms of creating interest in both the club and the hobby.
The year’s events have been varied with a trip on the Waverley Paddle Steamer, talks and demonstration from visiting speakers as well as demos from our own members.
We have further speakers and visits earmarked for 2009.
There has been a small increased in membership again and the turnout on Tuesday evenings has been very good even when the weather was foul.
We are now well established at Billing Aquadrome as well as having used Abington Park. Billing have been extremely good to us and it is now payback time. We will be staging events there during 2009.
Our members continue to be generous in supporting raffles and sales of merchandise and together with the tea money this runs the day to day business of the club and leaves our accounts in a sound financial state.
Once again I would like to thank all those members who have played their part in organising and attending events as well as looking after us at club meetings.
